Custom Renaissance Dress - “The Princess Bride” : Princess Buttercup
I worked together with Abbie to create this custom costume inspired by Princess Buttercup from “The Princess Bride.”
Not only did Abbie want the dress in the removable sleeve renaissance style (which I was soooo excited to decorate!) But, we’re BOTH working on a budget right now and the way we were to do this costume sustainably, in Abbie’s budget, while also paying for my time… we LOVE! We were both flexible and open with our circumstances. :)
This was made with all secondhand fabric which was in incredible condition. A fairly lightweight cotton fabric, and a more medium-weight cotton, with a thicker weave.
The belt was made with my stock of sparkles, bottle caps, beads, and TIME.
Although this costume looks fairly simple because of the “mono-chrome” aesthetic, this style of clothing simply takes time. The sleeves, belt, and sheer amount of fabric is a lot to navigate. But, the result is ALWAYS worth it.
If you’d like to discuss a costume idea, email me at madebymallorygreen@gmail.com with your name, contact info, and some information about your project. (Simple concept or reference, budget, time-frame) I’d love to create with you!
Thank you Abbie for this project! Working on it this summer was the best! <3
